New patient completing paperwork before an Ivy Dental appointment

The Ivy approach

A calmer first visit, with every step made clear.

  1. 01

    Listen first

We begin with what brought you in, what matters to you, and anything that would help you feel more at ease.

  2. 02

    Look carefully

Your dentist examines your teeth and gums, and discusses any photographs or X-rays before they are taken.

  3. 03

    Explain clearly

We show you what we find and talk through the suitable options in plain language, including the choice to do nothing yet.

  4. 04

    Decide together

If anything needs attention, you receive a written plan with indicative costs and time to decide what feels right for you.

You set the pace.

Dental anxiety is common. Tell us what would make the visit easier. You do not need to explain it away or apologise for it.

  • We explain before each step

Do I need a referral?

No. You can book directly online or call us. A referral from a GP or another dentist is not required for general or cosmetic appointments.

How long is the first appointment?

Allow approximately 45 to 60 minutes. This gives the dentist time to understand your concerns, complete an examination, discuss any recommended imaging, and explain the next step without rushing.

Can I book just a clean?

Most new patients begin with a check-up and clean so the dentist can first assess gum health, X-ray needs, and whether cleaning is appropriate that day. You can discuss every part of the visit before it begins.

Do you look after nervous patients?

Yes. Let us know when you book and we can allow more time, explain each step, and pause whenever you need. You do not need to apologise or explain why you feel nervous.

What if I have not seen a dentist in years?

That is okay. We see patients at every stage and focus on where things are now. The first goal is simply to understand what is happening and agree on a manageable next step.

Can I book my child as a patient?

Yes. Ivy welcomes children and participates in the Child Dental Benefits Schedule for eligible families. Tell us your child's age and the reason for the visit when you book so we can arrange the right appointment length.
