When any practice advertises a "from" price per veneer, that figure reflects the simplest possible case - typically a single veneer on a well-prepared tooth with no complications. Most cosmetic cases involve multiple teeth and some level of additional planning, so the per-veneer cost for a full case often sits above the starting figure.
At Ivy Dental, porcelain veneers start from $1,200 per veneer. That is an indicative figure. Your actual cost depends on your specific treatment plan.
What a veneer quote may include
Not all practices bundle the same things into their veneer price. When comparing quotes, ask what is included. A comprehensive veneer quote typically covers:
- Initial consultation and smile assessment
- Digital smile design and planning
- Trial smile (temporary veneers placed so you can preview the result before committing)
- Tooth preparation
- Laboratory fabrication of the final porcelain veneers
- Bonding and fitting
- Follow-up review appointments
Some practices separate consultation fees, smile design fees, or lab fees. Others bundle everything. The headline number only means something if you know what it contains.
What often increases the cost
Several factors can move a veneer case above the starting price:
Number of teeth. Most cosmetic cases involve 4, 6, 8, or 10 veneers. The more teeth involved, the higher the total investment - though per-unit cost may decrease slightly in larger cases.
Material choice. Feldspathic porcelain and e.max lithium disilicate have different properties, aesthetics, and costs. Your dentist will recommend a material based on the clinical requirements of your case, not just preference.
Pre-treatment. If teeth need alignment first (with clear aligners), or if gum recontouring is needed to create a symmetrical smile line, those are additional procedures with their own costs.
Existing restorations. Old fillings or crowns that need replacing as part of the veneer plan add complexity and time.
Case complexity. Significant bite issues, heavy wear, or teeth with previous trauma may require more conservative preparation strategies or additional planning steps.
How to compare quotes properly
Comparing veneer quotes across practices is not as simple as comparing per-unit prices. Consider these questions:
- Does the quote include a trial smile, or is that extra?
- Where are the veneers made? In-house lab, local lab, or overseas?
- What material is specified?
- How many appointments are included?
- Is follow-up care included or billed separately?
- What warranty is offered, and what does it cover?
A lower per-veneer price with overseas lab work, no trial smile, and no warranty is a fundamentally different proposition from a higher per-veneer price that includes comprehensive planning and local fabrication.
When cheaper is not cheaper
Veneers are an irreversible procedure. Tooth structure is removed during preparation and cannot be replaced. The quality of the planning, the material, the lab work, and the bonding technique all affect how long the result lasts and how natural it looks.
Choosing a provider purely on price can overlook assessment, material, laboratory, maintenance, and complication-management differences. Remedial treatment can add cost and complexity, but no provider or fee guarantees that a veneer will not chip, debond, need adjustment, or eventually require replacement.
Questions to ask when evaluating a lower quote:
- Are the veneers fabricated in an Australian laboratory?
- Is a trial smile included, or is that an additional fee?
- What warranty is offered, and does it require ongoing reviews?
- How many similar cases has this dentist completed?
- What happens if a veneer chips or debonds within the first year?
A transparent practice will answer these questions clearly. If you receive vague responses, that itself is useful information.
