Porcelain veneers are an investment. At Ivy Dental, they start from $1,200 per tooth. A full set of 8 to 10 veneers can represent a significant financial commitment. One of the most practical questions you can ask before proceeding is: what happens if something goes wrong?
That is where a warranty matters. Not all dental practices offer one. Among those that do, the terms vary widely. This guide explains what Ivy Dental's veneer warranty covers, what conditions apply, and what to ask if you are comparing providers in Brisbane.
Ivy Dental's 15-year porcelain veneer warranty
We offer a 15-year conditional warranty on porcelain veneers. The written policy, rather than a market-ranking claim, defines what is covered.
The warranty covers defects in the restoration under normal use. If a veneer fractures, debonds, or fails due to a material or fabrication issue during the warranty period, we will replace or repair it at no additional cost to you.
The warranty is not a promise that a veneer will never chip, debond, wear, or need replacement. It provides defined remedies for eligible failures where the policy conditions are met.
Warranty requires six-monthly reviews at Ivy. Conditions apply to habits, trauma, and attendance.
What the warranty covers
The warranty applies to the veneer restoration itself. Specifically:
- Fracture under normal function. If a veneer chips or breaks during normal eating and daily use, it is covered.
- Debonding. If a veneer separates from the underlying tooth without external cause, it is covered.
- Material defect. If the porcelain discolours, delaminates, or deteriorates in a way inconsistent with expected performance, it is covered.
In each case, we assess the veneer clinically to determine the cause. If the failure falls within the warranty terms, the replacement or repair is provided at no charge.
What the warranty does not cover
No warranty covers everything. These are the standard exclusions, and they exist for clinical reasons, not to create loopholes.
Missed review appointments. The warranty requires that you attend six-monthly check-up and clean appointments at Ivy Dental. These reviews allow us to monitor your veneers, check your bite, and identify early signs of wear or stress before they become problems. If you do not attend reviews, the warranty may be voided.
Grinding and clenching (bruxism). Teeth grinding places extreme force on veneers, well beyond what normal chewing produces. If you grind your teeth, we will recommend a custom night guard and factor this into your treatment plan. If grinding damage occurs and you have not been wearing a prescribed guard, the warranty may not apply. Night guards start from $650.
Trauma. A blow to the face during sport, an accident, or any external impact is not covered. This is consistent with warranties across all dental restorations.
Habits. Using your teeth to open packaging, biting nails, chewing pens, or eating hard objects like ice can damage veneers. These habits fall outside normal use.
Underlying tooth failure. The warranty covers the veneer restoration. If the underlying natural tooth develops decay, fractures at the root, or requires extraction for reasons unrelated to the veneer, the warranty does not extend to that tooth.

Why a warranty matters when comparing providers
When you receive veneer quotes from different Brisbane practices, the price per tooth is the most visible number. But the warranty terms behind that price are just as important.
Consider two hypothetical scenarios:
Practice A charges $1,400 per tooth with no warranty. If a veneer chips after three years, you pay full price for the replacement.
Practice B charges $1,500 per tooth with a 10-year warranty. The same chip at three years is repaired or replaced at no cost.
Over the life of the restoration, the "cheaper" quote may end up costing more. Warranties shift the financial risk from the patient to the provider, which is a strong indicator that the provider trusts their own work.
Questions to ask other dentists about their warranty
If you are getting quotes from multiple practices, these questions can help you compare on more than just price:
- Do you offer a warranty on porcelain veneers? If so, how long?
- What does the warranty cover, and what is excluded?
- Do I need to attend regular reviews to keep the warranty valid?
- Where are the veneers fabricated? Is the lab in-house or external?
- What happens if I move interstate during the warranty period?
Clear written answers make policies easier to compare. They do not establish that one provider will achieve a better clinical outcome.
How Ivy's process supports longevity
A veneer warranty is only as strong as the work behind it. Several aspects of how we plan and place veneers are designed to maximise the lifespan of each restoration.
Digital smile design. We plan your veneer case digitally before any tooth preparation begins. This reduces the chance of surprises and ensures the design accounts for your bite, jaw movement, and facial proportions.
In-house lab. Our ceramist works in the same building as our clinical team. Direct communication between dentist and technician means adjustments to colour, shape, and fit happen face to face, not through shipping notes.
Bonding protocol. The bonding process, specifically how the veneer is cemented to the tooth, has a significant impact on longevity. We use a controlled, multi-step bonding protocol under rubber dam isolation to maximise bond strength.
Bite assessment. Before placing veneers, we assess your bite for any patterns that could place excessive stress on the restorations. If issues are identified, they are addressed as part of the treatment plan rather than discovered after the veneers are in place.
What to do if a veneer is damaged
If you notice a chip, crack, or looseness in a veneer, contact us promptly. In many cases, early intervention prevents further damage.
Call (07) 3266 7120 or book an appointment online. Let reception know the issue involves an existing veneer so we can allocate the right appointment length.
If the damage is covered under your warranty, the repair or replacement will be arranged at no cost. If it falls outside the warranty terms, we will explain why and provide a quote for the repair.
Warranty as a commitment
A 15-year conditional warranty defines the practice's obligations for eligible veneer failures. Read the current policy carefully because coverage, exclusions, maintenance duties, and remedies matter more than the headline duration.
If you are considering porcelain veneers in Brisbane and want to understand how warranty, quality, and long-term value connect, we are happy to walk you through it at a consultation.
